Why SEO is Important for Your Website

What is SEO and why is it important? Why is SEO important for business? There are many questions you may be thinking about right now because SEO is all you hear about, right

First of all, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.

Content marketing and a search engine optimization strategy are becoming essential components of a successful digital marketing strategy.

People are increasingly searching for information online and preferring useful, informative content over more direct advertising– and it is much more authentic.

As a result, understanding and implementing SEO is critical for your company to remain competitive, visible, and relevant. Knowing how and why SEO is important is your first step.

So, I am going to tell you why SEO is important for your website.

7 Reasons Why SEO is Important

  • Visibility
  • Traffic
  • Conversions
  • Trust
  • UX – User Experience
  • Keyword Research
  • Local SEO

Visibility

SEO is important for your website as it provides your brand with the visibility it requires to attract customers and the vast majority of online activity begins with a search query– this is where keywords and phrases come in.

As a result, you want to be as visible as possible–ideally on page one–to ensure that searchers visit your website.

Traffic

Being visible and ranking well on SERPs should lead to increased website traffic. In fact, organic search is the most common source of website traffic.

So, a good SEO strategy that includes a large number of high-ranking links can generate more traffic than all other marketing efforts combined.

The traffic you receive is also more qualified because searchers are generally looking for exactly what you have– unlike ads and social media when something pops up.

Even if you have the best ad set, there is no guarantee that those who see it will want your product or service. When someone searches for a query, they have an immediate need for information and a solution to a problem.

That is where SEO comes into play. You can provide the information they require as well as a solution, increasing the likelihood of a conversion.

Conversions

More conversions can be obtained which is why SEO is important. More traffic means more leads, which should translate into more conversions.

Because useful and informative content is an important component of SEO, this information can persuade people that they require your product or service.

Visitors see more value in your offerings when they understand exactly what you offer and how it will benefit them, increasing the likelihood of a sale!

Trust

Companies with strong SEO and content strategies are also seen as more trustworthy if they create high-quality, informative content. You’re more likely to trust a company that has detailed blog posts explaining what their products do and how they can help you.

As well, you are more likely to click on and trust a blog post that shows up on page 1 rather than page 10, right? I doubt you will even make it to page 10!

This is in contrast to a website that only contains landing and product pages with basic information about their products or services. Building backlinks (when others link to pages on your website) and having a well-functioning website also contribute to trustworthiness and credibility.

UX – User Experience

Sites with a good UX are rewarded by search engine algorithms. To be competitive, you must make your website as user-friendly as possible. As a website designer and developer, I know how vital it is to create this.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is the first step in creating SEO-friendly content. This is the process of determining which keywords are relevant to your products or services and are actively used in search queries.

These must be thoroughly researched so that you select keywords that are both relevant to your offerings and not overly competitive.

Unless you have high domain authority, the best keywords are those that have a high search rate but low competition. High domain authority sites will dominate high search volume and high competition keywords.

Short-Tail Keywords: one or two keywords ex. SEO strategy.

Long-Tail Keywords: more specific phrases of three to six keywords ex. How to implement your SEO strategy.

Local SEO

If you operate in a highly localised market, you should tailor your SEO strategy to attract visitors from local searches. A local SEO strategy must include your location in keywords.

Otherwise, you’re wasting time reaching out to people who can’t use your services. Another reason why local SEO is important for your website is you may be missing out on searchers who are looking for your specific service in your specific location.

Another way to apply local keywords is when doing keyword research set your specific location for the search e.g. USA.
